Belagavi Police Detain Youths Over Dangerous Social-Media Stunts

16 Sep 2026

Belagavi police have taken action against several youths after videos showing dangerous vehicle stunts were circulated on social media and drew public criticism.

According to a report published on September 15, police identified and apprehended youths allegedly involved in performing risky stunts for social-media content. The videos were brought to the attention of authorities after becoming widely circulated online.

Police said such stunts can endanger not only those performing them but also other road users. The action forms part of increased police attention to dangerous behaviour being recorded and promoted through social-media platforms.

Authorities have warned young people against attempting hazardous stunts for online popularity and appealed to parents to monitor children's involvement in such activities. Police are continuing efforts to identify other people who may have participated in similar videos, according to the report.

The latest action is separate from earlier Belagavi police warnings concerning rowdy-sheeters using minors in criminal-style reels; those earlier developments are not repeated here because there is no verified new update linking this action to those cases.
